The Pleat Garden: Paper Pleating Digital Workshop
As part of the LFA Showroom Showcase initiative, architecture collective Unit 8 is showcasing ‘The Pleat Garden’ in the VitrA London showroom. To celebrate the installation, Unit 8 will run a step-by-step Zoom workshop where you can craft your own flower-inspired geometric design from a unique paper template provided.
‘The Pleat Garden’ appropriates pleats and origami folding techniques to develop a set of flower inspired geometries that gently float inside the showroom, creating an abstract garden. The garden reacts to changes in the environment, hovering with the wind and diffusing the light as it passes through the intricate pleat patterns.
The installation mirrors the colour palette that designer Arik Levy used for VitrA’s Voyage collection, which was inspired by his time spent living and working in Japan (the home of the Origami folding technique). With more than 130 products available, Voyage features elegant, rounded basins and a variety storage options with five dual colour finishes. The collection is entirely wall-hung, making it exceptionally versatile and ideal for small spaces.
All attendees will need to provide their preferred address to receive the paper folding kit by Friday 18 June.
